Process and geometrical integrity optimization of electron beam melting for copper

چکیده

This work systematically analyzes and optimizes the process of electron beam melting for pure copper. It is shown that, reliable manufacturing, preheating temperature should be optimized to avoid porosity as well part deformation. The fully focused prevent shrinkage voids (correlated negative defocusing) material spattering (linked positive defocusing). Smoother surfaces from lower hatch spacing (e.g., 100µm) can improve density reliability, while longer overhangs are reached by a higher spacing. A suitable starting contour strategy also applied mitigate border porosities, reduce side roughness increase geometric precision.

Optimization of Process Parameters of Electron Beam Welded Fe49Co2V Alloys

Electron beam welding has shown a remarkable job in the space industry for welding of components. It is performed under a vacuum environment that eliminates foreign matter such as hydrogen, oxygen, and other gases. Joining of similar and dissimilar materials is the main advantage of electron beam welding with high depth to width ratio as well as sharp focus at the point where parts are to be we...

Evaluation of Titanium Alloys Fabricated Using Rapid Prototyping Technologies—Electron Beam Melting and Laser Beam Melting

This study characterized properties of Ti-6Al-4V ELI (extra low interstitial, ASTM grade 23) specimens fabricated by a laser beam melting (LBM) and an electron beam melting (EBM) system for dental applications. Titanium alloy specimens were made into required size and shape for each standard test using fabrication methods. The LBM specimens were made by an LBM machine utilizing 20 µm of Ti-6Al-...

An Investigation of Sintering Parameters on Titanium Powder for Electron Beam Melting Processing Optimization

Selective electron beam melting (SEBM) is a relatively new additive manufacturing technology for metallic materials. Specific to this technology is the sintering of the metal powder prior to the melting process. The sintering process has disadvantages for post-processing. The post-processing of parts produced by SEBM typically involves the removal of semi-sintered powder through the use of a po...
